Running Gear

If you’re going to get serious about running, finding the right gear–that is best for your body and running goals–is essential. As you pick up your weekly mileage, you’ll soon be dealing with blisters, shin splints and other problems if you don’t invest in high-quality shoes and socks. If you’re upping the ante by prepping for a 10k, half marathon or marathon, we highly recommend trying out every item you’ll be using during your race in different environments during progressively longer runs. The gear below includes one of our favorite shoes, the Asics Gel-Kayano 20, CEP compression socks, a flashlight and Sport Shield Roll-On, a handy bottle carrier that you can use with any water bottle, a hydration vest, some gel chews for long-distance runs, and a waist pack for carrying gels, bars, keys and other items.  The last four items are essential as you extend your runs beyond 8-10 miles.

Who doesn’t love gadgets? We have used the Garmin Forerunner 235, one of the ancestors of the current 935, for many years. It was an indispensable tool for Cardio Dude as he trained for and then ran his first marathon a while back. By all accounts, the Garmin Forerunner 935 Running GPS Unit is nothing but an improvement and sets the standard for running gps watches today. The Garmin vívofit 4 Activity Tracker is a great option for a fitness watch. And an Apple iPod Touch is a great cellular-free device for music, podcasts, and audiobooks.

Cooking Gear

If you’re on a plant-based eating regimen, you need a little more than a microwave for your food prep. No kitchen gear list would be complete without the famous and trendy Instant Pot.
