Welcome to my first weekly update. I had an amazing week! I would rate my butt-kicking quotient (BKQ) at 10! I tried to be extra committed to my exercise and nutrition decisions so that my first week would set the pace for the rest of my journey. As I stuck to plant-based eating and the gym, I felt good every step–or jump–of the way. And, most importantly, week one is in the books–I survived!
My eating was on point this week. For breakfast, I had oatmeal with chia seeds, flax seed, PB peanut butter powder, and fruit. When I had more time on the weekend, I supplemented my breakfast with a smoothie.
The day before, I prepped brown rice, veggies, and tofu for lunches for work this week. For dinner, I would try to have a simple meal. I usually had a salad or veggies, beans, and rice. For snacks, I ate carrots and cucumber throughout the day. I didn’t cheat even once this week, which is a huge success for me and a testament to the power of blogging. I know every week won’t be this successful, so I want to enjoy this feeling while it lasts.
CrossFit and Exercise
I did CrossFit Monday through Thursday this week. I was on vacation the last couple weeks, so coming back this Monday felt awesome–I felt strong and really tried to push myself. Saturday and Sunday I went to my local high school and did some running/walking. I ended with some stairs and ab exercises.
- January 1st weight: 200 pounds (highest weight I have been. YIKES!) Current weight as of 1/14/2018: 194 pounds. I have not noticed a difference in the look of my body. It is only the first week. Can this be possible? Yes, combine exercise with a plant-based diet, add social support, and out comes progress.
Favorite WOD of the Week
- AMRAP for 20 minutes
- 300m Run (1 Rep)
- 10 Power Cleans
- 15 Burpees
- I did 60 reps. The run and burpees slowed me down. ☹
Quote of the Week
Always do your best. What you plant now, you will reap the harvest later. -Carol Burnett
I thought this quote was appropriate for my first week of eating plant-based foods.
Thanks for joining me on this journey. Let week two begin!
