It has been officially a little over a month since my blog has launched. I still cannot believe I have a blog. This journey is only beginning; I am excited to see what the future holds.
The last couple weeks have been good, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. I have still not eaten meat during this journey. I have had veggie pizza and other forms of food that are not considered completely plant-based. I have found the best way for me to stay on track with my food is to have a weekly meal prep chart with all my food I am eating. For breakfast I usually have oatmeal with some sort of fruit or a smoothie. For lunch and dinner I have meals that I plan for in advance. Knowing what I am eating for the whole week keeps me accountable. I try to go grocery shopping only once a week so I can buy my all of the food I need for that specific week during a single visit to the grocery store. Food is still a huge struggle for me. I try not to obsess over it. When I was “dieting” in the past I would obsess over my food. I was constantly thinking about what meal I was going to eat next and if it would exceed my “target” for calorie intake. I would count every single calorie. If I would eat too many calories, I would be mad at myself and give up. This time around I am not trying to do that. I am trying to understand my body and read what my body needs. I try to think of food now as fuel and not so much as pleasure. It is a struggle every day, but I can already see a difference in my mentality from my last yo-yo diets. This journey is different. I feel different. My mind feels different.
CrossFit and Exercise
I try to do some form of physical activity 5 times a week. If not CrossFit, something outdoors like walking or running. These last 3 weeks I have been hitting the gym a little less. This is due to a lot of things. I have been quite busy the last couple weeks. Every night I had something that was planned. It is hard to be disciplined in the gym when life around you is so busy. Even though there are lot of peaks in this journey, I feel like it is important to also document the valleys. I am still committed and am still hitting the gym, but not as much as I would like to. Now that everything in life has slowed down I finally have time to hit the gym hard this week going forward. I have noticed if I don’t make fitness a priority in my life, I will never achieve my goals.
• January 1st weight: 200 pounds. Current weight as of 3/18/2018: 189–yay!! Officially in the 180s!!!!!!
• I lost 2 pounds this week. I feel like I should have lost more weight. But, I know I am probably gaining a lot of muscle doing CrossFit.
Favorite WOD of the week
• 5 Rounds: 20 Alternating Dumbbell Snatches (20 Pounds) and 10 Pushups
• It took me 10:15. I felt strong throughout. I did not stop once.
