This week, unfortunately, did not go as planned. I started getting a headache and a runny nose on Tuesday and ended up catching a cold that was going around. I left work early on Thursday, called in sick on Friday, and rested the whole weekend. Understandably, losing weight was a challenge this week. Sunday morning I started feeling better, so I went to church and then tried to clean up around the house. Let’s just say it was not an eventful week. I feel it is important to talk about things that pop up along this journey. This is real life and I want to make sure that I document everything that comes up along the way. Getting sick is something that happens. It is not a big deal, but it slowed down the momentum I had. I was basically out of commission for a whole week.
The one good thing about being sick is that I did not have an appetite. I stuck to eating plant-based, mostly snacking because I was not very hungry. Monday through Wednesday I stuck to my basic meal plan. I had oatmeal and fruit for breakfast. For lunch, I had a veggie/hummus sandwich on Ezekiel bread: hummus spread with cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce. I generally try to stay away from bread, but sometimes I need a quick meal. I made a Tofu Veggie Stir Fry for dinner. Thursday through the weekend I did not eat much, mostly fruits, snacks, and some vegetables. The flu kicked my butt and I just relaxed, slept, and watched TV.
CrossFit and Exercise
I did CrossFit on Monday and Tuesday but did not go to the gym the rest of the week because I just had no energy. That really stinks. I took a little walk on Sunday when I was feeling better. Hopefully next week I will kick butt again.
My Weekly Stats
Check out my Getting Started post if you’d like to see where all of this started. Here are my most recent stats: January 1st weight: 200 pounds. Current weight as of 1/28/2018: 193 pounds. I did not lose any weight this week due to my sickness. I only went to the gym two times. Not eating much for those couple days helped keep my body weight the same.
Favorite WOD of the week:
With a partner:
2000m Run together.
Our time was 39:50. We breezed through the rowing, but the assault bike was rough.
Song quote for the week:
Always gonna be an uphill battle.
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose.
Aint about how fast I get there.
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side.
IT’S THE CLIMB!
